Hello Whitehorse Middle School Families,

Schedules are now available in Infinite Campus and can be viewed via the parent portal.

Student schedules were created following guiding principles near and dear to our hearts and mind.

  • Prioritized focus on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) to ensure that relationships are at the center and that students feel supported and confident in learning.

  • Antiracist curricular resources and instructional practices will be utilized by staff each and everyday.

  • Emphasis on Math and English Language Arts instruction. Students will have these core subjects daily with options for teachers to provide targeted instruction and extension activities as appropriate to promote continued learning. We believe that this priority allows for us to address any academic gaps related to the disruption of instruction in the Spring 2020, and also incorporates efforts to accelerate the acquisition of needed grade level knowledge.

  • Increased student voice and choice. Students indicated preference for courses via the Unified Arts Preference Form sent to families who anticipated attending Whitehorse in the spring.  Course offerings and selections were not impacted by our transition to the virtual platform.

  • Increased opportunities for synchronous (live) learning scheduled throughout the day with frequent breaks needed to retain a healthy state of mind.

  • Provide consistency.  The schedule allows for students to maintain the same courses and teachers if and when we transition from a virtual to in person instruction.

We have created a guided video explanation of how to access your student’s schedule in Infinite Campus and how it relates to the Whitehorse Middle School Virtual Learning Schedule.  This video can be found by using the link below:

Please plan to join one of our Virtual Back to School events (dates and times listed below).  We will be available with your student’s teachers to answer any questions you have about schedules and virtual learning at Whitehorse.

Sincerely,

Jon Keppel, Instructional Coach and Amy Wederath, Principal

Below are written instructions for how to access Infinite Campus and your student’s schedule.

Step 1 - Accessing Infinite Campus

You will need to log into the MMSD Infinite Campus Parent site.  If you cannot remember your username and password or have other log in issues, please follow the instructions on the page.

Step 2 - Ways to View Student Schedules

The easiest way to see your student’s schedule is to click on ‘Schedule’ on the left taskbar, the schedule will display separately for each quarter and day of the week.  Below is a snapshot of what you will see. The schedule will look slightly different since I was not able to access Whitehorse Parent IC.  Scroll down to see the differences in classes each day of the week.  Times listed indicate to students and families when students are expected to be participating synchronously (live) with the listed teacher and other members of that classroom community.  Please note that student schedules for Wednesdays will look exceptionally confusing.  Due to the fact that all learning is asynchronous (not live) on Wednesdays, all student courses needed to be listed on Wednesday so staff can accurately mark attendance asynchronously (based on student response to classwork).

Another way to access the student schedule is through the Calendar - select Schedule, they need to click on a specific day to the schedule.  It will appear like this:

Step 3 - Moving between our Whole School Daily Schedule and Student Schedules

Open the Whitehorse Virtual Schedule 20-21 document.  You will find all grade’s daily schedules listed on page 1 with individual grades following.  Please use the Audio explanation provided HERE to help you navigate between your student’s Schedule in Infinite Campus and this more detailed schedule.  Periods/hours & their times/teachers shown in the student’s Infinite Campus directly correspond with this schedule.

If you have any remaining questions, please reach out to your student’s Homeroom Teacher or by contacting
